Big Moments in Little Lives

Jack and Katelynn started school yesterday, finally. Finally! Katelynn was so excited about her big day, but really I think she was more excited about her accessories (lunch box, back pack, etc) then the actual school part. Jack was really nervous about getting a new teacher. He just didn't understand why he couldn't go back to Ms. Beth's class.

I packed everyone up and their $100 worth of school supplies. I splurged on this backpack for Katelynn. It might be the cutest backpack the world has ever seen. When it arrived at the house, I took it out of the box and she screamed "That is so cute!" She is a mess!

Jack has the same Curious George getup from last year. Hey, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!
Now warning, this is the sorriest group of pictures I have EVER taken in my whole life. The kids Jack, was less than eager to participate, and I was carrying enough stuff as we walked into school to qualify as a Sherpa, making it rather difficult to encourage participation. So please, hold your laughter to a minimum.
This will have to count as their group shot!
Walking in with the world's cutest backpack.
You can tell Jack is nervous just from his sad body language.
In his classroom and completely over the nerves! And yes, this is the saddest classroom shot ever. Just remember all of the 42 million things I was holding plus trying to keep K from sitting down. And I'm pretty sure a 3 year old tried to knock me down to get closer to the table. It is a rough world out there. But once we got to the room and he saw the other kids, his nerves were gone. He kissed me goodbye and never looked back.
In Katelynn's room and as you can see, the nerves are hitting her now. The fun of "dressing up" for school has worn off and reality is sinking in. She got really clingy and started crying. Her teacher, Ms Beth, swooped her up as I ran out the door. I got a picture from Ms Beth about an hour later with her playing happily on the playground. She wasn't sad for long.
Both kids did great and had a fun day. Jack learned about crisscross applesauce and got to hold the flag during the pledge. He as lots of other funny stories about the Ms Pam telling him to be quiet during nap time. Katelynn was all smiles when I picked her up (well actually she was passed out on her nap mat something she has been dying to use since I made it a month ago!) and told me lots of details of her day.

I took them to the park after school to have some celebratory cupcakes.

Life is good. It is amazing what I can do with 10 hours to myself every week...Or what I won't do and just sit in a quiet house. I'm so thankful we found a wonderful school with even more wonderful teachers who love my babies and keep them safe!

And in other news, Katelynn moved up to a big girl bed this summer. I totally forgot to update all 11 of my readers on this huge moment. My apologies.

We rearranged her room and got some really cute paper lanterns to hang from the ceiling to match all the colors in her bed. All we need to do is paint the walls (a neutral color that is a bit darker than what is on the walls now) but it is taking Nathan forever to do it....so when it's finished, I'll post pictures of the finished room. That might be 2 years from now.
