October on the Farm

This weekend it was time for that momentous occasion in every young boy's life, picking out his pumpkin. Some friends and us got together and headed out to a local pumpkin farm for some good old fashion rustic pumpkin picking.

We decided to see how tall Jack was...he wasn't so into it.

This is the pumpkin patch. Yeah, I know, not what I expected! It was a little more "Au natural" than we planned on. I guess I was expecting a cute little fall scene setup for me to gracefully maneuver and find that one glorious perfectly round pumpkin with a stem. Well, this was the exact opposite, bugs included.
On our hayride back from the very rustic pumpkin picking. Jack claimed his pumpkin and wouldn't let it go.
There was a petting zoo and some sort of chicken puppet show. I didn't like it because it was in a chicken coup and smelled like chickens. Jack didn't like it because it was, well, down right creepy.

Jack loved all of the animals. Anytime he would see one, he would point to it and start making noises. We think he thought they were all dogs! There were some donkeys named Jack and Jill so of course we had to stop by and meet Jack. Well, our Jack really liked the donkeys!
I can't believe he just stuck his hand out there to touch her (this was Jill)! Again, I think he though it was a dog!

Fun times. Stay tuned for Jack's first pumpkin carving in a few weeks!

Were you seriously the only ones at the chicken puppet show? Going to the pumpkin patch sounds fun. Maybe next year.

Looks like fun times. Especially when Nathan is all by himself watching the chicken show. ;)
